Attentat might well be one of my top 5 punk bands ever. At least these three records. The snotty as fuck juvenile lyrics and sound just makes me so happy, still after listening to these records for well over 15 years. I guess some of the joy is lost if you don't understand swedish. But don't let that scare you off, since the music rocks your sox off! Classic "-77 punk" from gothenburg!

Trojne was a swedish band hailing from Stockholm. Musicwise it's straight forward swedish hardcore punk with angry vocals. I think this record is insanely underrated. They released another 7 inch, but I don't think it's as good as this one. I love this record!!

Libresse is a swedish band from Gothenburg. This was released on Mats Bodenmalms (Distortion Records) first label Hardcore Horror Records. It's raw as fuck blackend thrash crust with a very depressive sound that fit the lyrics perfect. It's one of my favourite swedish bands from this time, and they really deserve more attention. Mandatory!

Mizz Nobody was a female fronted band from Klippan, sweden. They only released this record as far as I know. It's not that well known, which is a shame since it's a solid hit. The style is KBD/punk rock/wave:ish. All fans of KBD/Bloodstains type of early punk should get this.

Here's a tape I have'nt seen on too many places. It's a shame cause it's a brilliant peice of russian punk rock. The style is very original and melancholic, and it sounds much older than 1995. I don't know too much about this band, except that I can't stop listen to it. So if you like the special style of old russian bands like GrOb and the likes, this is mandatory.

The mystery is solved thanks to Demilitarize-Anders. It turned out to be the record above, and I'm so grateful since this have been haunting me for ages now. D.N.A. has been a favorite band of mine for a long time. They are pretty original sounding and have a really gloomy and melancolic edge to their music. But this is no fucking goth music, it's raw as fuck råpunk! Classic stuff!

Nillen on vocals also was also the first singer in Anti Cimex, and that alone should be enough.

T.S.T. (The Shock Treatment) are one of those bands I've always liked. I remember my adolescent punk years, sitting in my room in rural sweden listening to stuff like this and drinking folköl (the peoples beer 3,5% alc, it's a swedish thing). Good times, punk rock is a great cure for emo:ish teenage angst! :)

This record, which I like to call "sweden-tolvan" is a great example of how great the band was. I really think they need the same treatment as The Bristles for example. How sweet would'nt it be with a fancy discography digi-pack! Oh well, until then enjoy this!

Here's a tape with siberian punkers Spinki Menta. Spinki Menta was made up of members from the infamous Grazhdanskaya Oborona and Chernyi Lukich. They pretty much share the same sound as these bands as well. This may not be for everyone, but for the punk rock connoisseur it's a must. It's sort of a mixture of russian punk and folk. No-Fi of corpse!

I've had this mix tape for about 15-17 years now. It was one of the reasons I got into to punk in the first place. I dubbed it from my big sisters boyfriend back then, and it has bands like Rövsvett, Asta Kask, Slobobans Undergång etc. Since then I have tracked down all the records on the tape, with one exception. There is a band with two songs that I have not been able to identify or track down in any way. It really haunts me to this day. That's why I wan't to summon the mighty powers of the internets. Download the songs and identify the band and record. It would really make me sleep easier.

Oh man, what a night of noise and booze! It was a small but dedicated crowd of punks that had gathered to see these two great bands. I was a but surprised there was'nt more people, but it did'nt matter in the end. Quality before quantity as the say. ;)
Here we have Leigh (from Excrement of War amongst others) and Mark (of The Wankys) before the show.

Swedens finest d-beaters Giftgasattack tearing it up. First time I saw them and I was not dissapointed. It's easy the hear were they get their influense from.

Here's an obscure band for ya. These are long time friends of mine and broke up just when it started to happen things. The reasons for the break up is classic, kids, moving to different citys etc. But these two recordings are in my oppinion fucking great. It could have been recorded in the golden era of gothenburg punk ruck back in 77-80. So if you like that early KBD-stuff I guarantee that you'll love this. Oh yeah, it's swedish of corpse!

Some great compact discs have come my way lately.

Syphilitic Vaginas - Complete Studio Recordings
This one have been on top of my to-buy-list since I heard it was being released. I fucking love this band. They have an impressive feeling for that crazy black metal punk japanese scandi sound. Can't stop listen to this. I do already have the vinyls since before, but this is a very handy piece of plastic, and the sound is great. Highly recomended for any fan of extreme punk/metal.

The Bristles - Discography CD
I've loved this band since I first got their EP's over 15 years ago. Sadly I sold them during times of economic hardship, so I was stoked when I heard about this collection. Since it's MCR releasing the disc, it's done properly. They even throw in a DVD with some live gigs. Brilliant stuff all the way through, and was dirt cheap to buy.

I was on this as soon as I saw it. Both bands kick ass, and this record contains all their recorded stuff as far as I know. Crisp sound so you can enjoy the distortion in hi-fi and some nice artwork. Only a fool would miss this one.

Here's some ripping hard core punk from Vienna, Austria. It was recorded back in 1983 (or maybe even 82). The band formed in 1981 and released several records and was still active in the 90's if I'm not mistaken.

Modells were a punk band from Hungary. This is highly recomended.

From the info file:

Roy - guitar, vocals
Johnny (R.I.P.) - bass
Apu - drums

Modells was a well known punk band around 1982 in Hungary. They formed in 1981 with a singer (Tom), who left the band after some months. They made the best gigs as a trio.

In the middle of 1983 Apu left the band to join the skinhead band Mos-Oi, then he founded the band "Z.E.F.", which became in 1989 the band "Független Adó" ("Independent Station"). He helped in a lotta several skinhead and rock productions in the 90's.

The band broke up at the end of 1983.

Roy fade away, never made any music no more.

Johnny died in 1999.

These 4 songs were recorded live in a film studio, spring or summer, 1982 (secretly of course, becoz the punk rock was forbidden in the communist régime). No more, only one take was available, so sometimes the musicians are not really ok.

Anyway this is an extremly rare record, restored from an old cassette tape.

I remember being blown away by Incontrollados one drunken and disorderly night at the K-Town festival at Ungdomshuset, Copenhagen. I have since been a big fan of this punk as fuck band from Denmark, but sadly they broke up 2002. If you like your punk rock energetic, uncompromising and in your face, you're gonna love this band. All their stuff is now availible for download on their webpage.

Ok, this is a band that I never would have found without the wonders of internet. Raw and distorted russian punk rock with a touch of folk music, that's what you get from this ripping band. I can't tell you how much I like this band, especially during the 80's era when they were at their peak. The album "Zdorovo i vechno" from 1989 is such an extrem album created under such extrem conditions in U.S.S.R. under the communist rule, and the music really transfers the feeling. Some history from wikipedia:

The band was created by a young Soviet dissident, Egor Letov, in December of 1984. At that point, Russian underground music was close to its peak. Rock bands such as Aquarium, Mashina Vremeni (Time Machine), and Kino were enormously popular; however, punk rock as a genre was new to Soviet underground musical scene. Gr.Ob. were the ones to fill this vacant niche, and now maintains a huge army of fans, admirers, and followers. It inspired hundreds of subsequent Soviet and then Russian punk bands.

Ok, more swedish vintage! This time it's the crazy band Pizzoar from Sundsvall, and they were active between the years 1979-1981 and managed to put out one EP. It included the songs År 3000, Veckopressen, Guds Barn and Visa lite känslor, and it was released on the label Massproduktion 1979/80 and was pressed in 500 copies. Pizzoar may not be the most influental band in the history of swedish punk, but the ep is in my eyes a real classic mainly because of the extremely young and snotty singer. Here's a short blurb about the band ripped from the excellent site swedishpunk.com;

The Pizzoar gigs was often totally chaotic, in Sundsvall it always was a lot of people and a lot of pogo. We just rocked and had fun, we didn’t care if some song was fu**** up. Once, Leffe Andrée was playing drums with his leg in plaster after a pogo-accident at Magasinet, it was just to tighten the hi-hat and play… Besides a lot of gigs in Sundsvall, we also played Östersund and Ljusdal. At the train to Östersund we break in to the closed restaurant-wagon and stole a lot of lager. Later we were taken by the police at a restaurant in Östersund after Fimpen accidentally threw a beef in the face of an old man. In Ljusdal the Snowmobiles was lined up in front of the concert hall and the boys had their alcohol in 5 litres plastic bottles. Göran was sitting on a chair for the whole show and felt ill.

Rolands Gosskör

Another swedish band I always liked is Rolands Gosskör, who was active during the 80's. They may not be the rawest band that came out of sweden during that time, but still I think they play solid punk rock without any macho crap. They released a split LP with Asta Kask among a bunch of eps and compilation tracks. As many of the old bands they have now published all their stuff as mp3 on their webpage, which is a very cool thing to do. Oh yeah, they have recently reunited, but I'm very sceptical about this, so whatever. But the old stuff is still very good. I recommend to get the eps "Pigs Part One" and "Genom barriären". So head over there and check this band out.

I was about to do a post about the classic swedish band Asta Kask and that they offer their whole discography as mp3 on their site. On their site I read the following message:

"Asta Kask have for some time had a dispute with our old label Rosa Honung records regarding the rights of our recordings. Asta Kask is regarding the rights to several recordings as ours while Rosa Honung regards the rights to belong to them. Rosa Honung have now hinted that Asta Kask is breaking Rosa Honung's copyright by publishing our songs on the internet. Rosa Honung have been aware of this since atleast 1999 and did not react in any way worth mentioning and did definitly not forbid us to publish the songs. Seeing that Rosa Honung and Jan Dahlbom(the owner of the label) trough his attorney are hinting that we will be punished because of this, we have decided to take the mp3's on astakask.com offline until all of this is solved. Asta Kask are certain that this will be solved to our advantage and that we will be able to offer you the mp3s in a very near future. When is hard to tell right now because there are lawyers and legal rights to be worked out first."

Rosa Honung probably haven't given the band much thought over the years, but now when they have gain new popularity the greed sets in. It's a fucking joke that a punkband can't publish their own material on their own site, but let's hope that this gets solved in good way for the band. Fuck Rosa Honung Records!

We're not spoiled with punk rock from South Africa, so I thought it would be a good idea to acknowlage on of the bands that started the scene over there. From the site:

From 1981 - 1988 the band Power Age took on apartheid, the AWB, vivisection and pretty much anything that was wrong with society. Despite facing beatings and arrest they soldiered on and gave hope to a large number of disillusioned South African youth during those troubled times (myself included) while gaining scores of international fans and supporters. They set up their own label (Power Noize Records) to assist other bands as well as release their own brand of protest punk, printed their own zines and set up their own gigs establishing the first real punk underground scene in South Africa.

First band out is a hard hitting streetpunk outfit from Amsterdam, Holland, called Antidote. They've played since 1996 and that tells me 2006 will be their 10th anniversary, and lets hope there will be 10 more years of excellent catchy punk rock. I encourage everybody to check this band out, and they give away a bunch of free mp3s on their webpage. So enjoy!

They are releasing a new album really soon, so here is two tracks from the new unreales record and they kick ass! This is one record I'm not going to miss!

Ok, here's the deal, I'm going to convert this blog into a pure MP3-blog and at the same time start to write in english. The reason for this is simply that I wan't to spread some excellent and exciting music and I wan't use a language that is a bit more widespread than swedish. EU's Arse släpper ny skiva?

Det italienska kultbandet verkar ha långt gågna planer på att släppa en nyinspelning av sex gamla låtar på svenska Blindead Productions. Men när den ska komma är tydligen inte helt glasklart, och på sidan står följande att läsa:

"As you all have noticed, this 7" is not out yet. Due to the band members busy private lives they can not say exactly when the recording will happen. We are all still hoping they will find the time, and there are no plans on the opposite, but we can't say when."

Så sjöng Extreme Noise Terror 1987, och vad som hände sen vet nog dom flesta. Hur som helst är texten mer relevant än någonsin, och dom stora skivbolagen blir allt mer aggressiva i sina affärsmetoder (senast nu Sony BMG och deras klavertramp). Jag personligen har ingen lust att stödja band som ligger på RIAA-anslutna skivbolag, så därför blev jag glad när jag hittade sidan RIAA Radar. Där kan man söka i en databas och se om en speciell skiva är släppt på ett bolag som är RIAA-anslutet. Varför inte helt bojkotta sådana skivor? Behöver vi band och skivbolag som använder dessa tvivelaktiga metoder för att få in stålarna? Nej tack!

D-taktstorsdag

Efter en misärstart på en denna gråa vinterdag har jag nu fått upp humöret, och idag består playlisten (ja, det är svengelska) av kängpunk. Finns inget som kan tända lågan inom mig som lite arg kängpunk. Ett band som jag inte ägnat någon större uppmärksamhet på ett tag är Diskonto, som jag tyckte var skitbra för ett par år sedan. Nu är dom tillbaka och jag såg dom här i stockholm för ett tag sedan och då visade dom att takterna fortfarande sitter i. Dom har dessutom en färsk skiva ute som heter "Watch Us Burn" och jag kan inte annat än att imponeras. Trender kommer och går men Diskonto består, och det tackar vi för. Så jävla uppfriskande med hederlig gammal d-takt i dagens collegepunktider. Sen att skivan, tillsammans med alla deras andra skivor, finns att tanka hem på hemsidan är ju ett stort plus i kanten. DIY och antikapitalism i praktiken!

Ett annat band som jag har snurrat i veckan är Martyrdöd, som även dom har släppt en ny (och efterlängtad) skiva på Havoc Records, döpt till "In Extremis". Jag blev otroligt imponerad när jag såg dom första gången live i göteborg för ett par år sedan, och när jag fick tag på skivan levde den mer än väl upp till förväntningarna. Jag har alltid gillat Oral och deras svarta och black metal osande hardcore, och Martyrdöd tar det ett steg längre men utan att urarta i metal. I och med den nya skivan har dom finpolerat stilen och levererar en extremt tung och desperat samling låtar som garanterat kommer bli klassiker.

Flogging Molly (US) och Twopointeight live på Nalen

Efter att ha missat Flogging Molly varenda gång dom har spelat i svedala, så var det nu dags för revansch! Jag hade extremt höga förväntningar på den här spelningen och peppet var på topp när vi styrde stegen mot Nalen. Väl där möts vi av en gigantisk kö, som skiljer sig något mot din vanliga punkspelning, här är det allt från medelålders Svenssons till KTH-studenter med North Face jacka och en och annan skinnskalle. Att det var så få punkare måste bero på att biljetten kostade 230 spänn, och lägg sedan på en "nätt" garderobsavgift på 20:-, inga punkpriser direkt. För min egen del spelade priset ingen större roll, dels eftersom jag blev bjuden på kalaset, och dels för att inget i världen skulle få mig att missa denna spelning.

När köandet och garderobskaoset var avklarat hittade vi ett bord strategiskt placerat vid baren, och vi började förfriska oss i väntan på att spelningen skulle börja. Kollade inte in försäljningen av merchen eftersom varken jag eller Phille (min partner in crime) hade ett jävla öre, så det skulle bara leda till ångest och frustration. Istället förtärdes mer svindyr öl, som vi tack och lov blev sponsrade med.

Först ut var svenskarna Twopointeight, och jag gissar att namnet har att göra med den dryck socialdemokraterna har prackat på oss. Här har vi ett gäng med kraftigt Rancid-komplex, vilket jag även noterade när jag innan spelningen kollade in deras hemsida. Första låten hade dessutom lite klädsamma Clash-influenser, vilket var det enda positiva med deras framträdande. Redan vid andra låten dog mitt intresse för deras tillrättalagda collegepunk, så vi fortsatte vårt öldrickande i Nalens mysiga cocktailbar.

Efter mycket öl och jordnötter var det då dags för bandet alla kommit dit för, Flogging Molly! Redan från första ackordet visste jag att detta skulle bli bra, publiken var helt galen och röjde från låt ett. Sångaren och frontmannen Dave King är en underhållare och vet hur man får med sig publiken, vilket gjorde att stämningen var på topp. Dom körde alla hits jag hade hoppats på att få höra, och dom var precis så bra jag visste att dom skulle vara live. Rebels of the Sacred Heart har länge varit en favorit för mig, och uppenbarligen många andra, så när den dundrade igång var stämningen elektrisk och jag tror inte att någon kunde stå still. Tyvärr var inte ljudet helt klockrent, utan en smula skrikigt med hög diskant, och vissa instrument, som Matt Hensleys dragspelet till exempel, försvann i ljudbilden. Det var inget större problem egentligen förutom i vissa låtar där flöjten har en dominant roll, där trumhinnorna fick rejält med stryk (öronpropparna låg såklart i fickan). Men på det stora hela var Flogging Mollys framträdande helt felfritt och dom levererade med bravur det som förväntades, nämligen jävligt ösig irländsk folkpunk. Så idag kan jag, trots ont i kropp och öron, med ett leende på läpparna tänka tillbaka på en klockren föreställning med ett klockrent band.

Poison Idea gjorde oss uppmärksamma på att skivsamlare är ett gäng pretentiösa rövhål, och sällan har det väl vart så tydligt som när man besöker GISM sidan "Punks Is Hippies". Men en något elitistisk ton avhandlas bandet på det där anala sättet som bara en skivnörd kan gör sig skyldig till.

På den eminenta sidan "(G)UY (I)N (S)UICIDE (M)ISSION" kan man läsa följande rader:

My goal is to give you, the fan, more much needed info on this band. Like many, I am very displeased with the lack of GISM info, and pictures for that matter, on the internet. Possibly this is because of the Sakevi Curse. Where if you make a site about him or GISM and he finds out, he will kill you ( that is why I titled my page "Guy In Suicide Mission").

Med livet som insats har han helt klart gjort ett lysande jobb, och bjuder på en site fullproppad med information och rikligt med ovanligt bildmaterial.

The Clichés - No justice, just us

The Clichés är för mig ett nytt band som jag upptäckte genom Bandworm Records reklam på innerkonvolutet till Perkeles nya LP Confront. Där presenteras dom med följande ord;

"Pure Skinhead sound from the swedish Oi!sters. For all real Skinheads and fans of Templars and 70s UK Oi! bands. The Clichés kick everybody in the ass and give a fuck for all Hippie Wankers!"

Eftersom jag åtminstonde faller in i kategori två, dvs "fans of Templars" så var jag inte sen att kolla upp denna skiva. Och visst har dom rätt, fans av The Templars och Perkele kommer älska denna helgjutna platta. Det här bandet vet var oi!-skåpet skall stå, det är det inget snack om. Trots bandnamnet så tycker jag att skivan känns som en frisk fläkt i den annars sorgligt klichéfyllda svenska oi!-floran.

Burning spirit!

Sedan jag och Daniel la ner vårat webzine Crust As Fuck (som alla säkerligen har glömt vid det här laget) har jag enbart varit en del av punkscenen som konsument, vilket förvisso har varit otroligt skönt och avkopplande. Men det är ju inte riktigt syftet med punk, att det ska vara skönt och avkopplande. Ingen scen överlever på passivitet, därför tänkte jag dra mitt lilla strå till punkstacken med denna blogg, som kommer att behandla allt från japansk hardcore till svensk -77 punk till fransk oi!. Lite som en hyllning till den musik jag älskar. Kanske kommer jag i framtiden även intervjua band osv, men det låter jag vara osagt än så länge.

Stay punk! Stay teenage!
